- Description
The 2014 Trinca Bolotas "Herdade do Peso" is a blend of 44% Alicante Bouschet, 40% Touriga Nacional and 16% Aragonez, aged for six months in a mixture of used French and Caucasian oak. This doesn't have a lot of mid-palate concentration, but it has fine structure for the level. Showing some power and a real backbone just now, it tightens noticeably on the finish with air. It delivers intense flavor, too, but with some complexity mingling with fruitier nuances. It is quite a nice value for a house pour and it has some distinction. I liked it more and more as it aired out. That said, this should be drunk on the younger side. It is not always clear how long wines at this level stay at peak. At the moment, it is perhaps even more impressive than this note might suggest. 86 pts. - Mark Squires, eRobertParker.com #220 Aug 2015
